Get to know your students

Another workshop wasn't able to keep this girl's attention...another great idea "borrowed" from the walls of another great teacher. As I listened to the speaker I doodled my version of their class project. So teacher that I don't know, thank you for this idea! It is a great one!

Ps. I printed this out and then copied it on 11 x 17 paper and made "posters" to hang around the room.

Oh, I almost forgot! My teammate and awesome teacher friend came up with a great game to play with this "get-to-know-you" poster. Use the "clues" to allow students to guess the student. For example, read out a few "clues" and have students guess who the student is. You can also do a twist to this and have all students stand up and as you read a "clue" have them sit down if it doesn't apply to them and you will be left with the chosen student.

Class Rules

I was sitting in a workshop a few years back and I saw this poster on the other side of the room. (lol..the workshop must not have been keeping my attention) I am sure glad that my eyes were wondering because this set of classroom expectations served me well last year. It is simple, sweet, and covers just about anything. I think it is a little bit more "mature" and I think our 5th graders are ready for that.

Under Construction

Ok, so if you happen to stumble across my website...WELCOME!

This new school year has left me with my hands full! I quickly realized this when I went into school to start unpacking my classroom. After 6 years at our districts West campus, I am moving to our Central campus. Thankfully, all of my boxes made it to the new building. Let the unpacking begin! Unpacking would go much easier if I didn't have a 2 month old to entertain at the same time. Thankfully. Eli has been a real trooper! He sits in his bouncy seat while I run around like a crazy lady trying to figure out the madness of all my boxes. Having a pregnant lady pack up leads to a very creative system (aka throw everything in a box with no rhyme or reason to why it is in that box). Anyways...

I know there isn't much up here yet, but it is my goal to share as much as I can as this school year gets rolling. My ultimate goal is to have you be able to contribute your gems too!

Thanks for visiting!
